Matthew Martin spent six weeks at the school during the summer of 2009. His words describe it all, “A truly life changing experience.” At the time Matthew was at the teacher training college of Rockhampton University. He returned to the UK with a totally different mindset. He passed his degree, he got married, he got a job and he is now a doting father.
“Shamrock school is the ideal place to gain a wealth of experience in cultural differences. As part of my teacher training degree, I visited Nepal in order to teach the children of Shamrock… I left Nepal having learnt so much from them. Although they have very little, these wonderful people are so warm and so giving to visitors who have so much. The children appreciate and cherish everything that is provided for them at the school. They welcomed me as part of their family.”
It was a life changing experience for me, these wonderful children have so little in terms of wealth and possessions , yet they are rich in love and happiness. The children are attentive and willing to learn all aspects of education and life.
I can only thank the people who run Shamrock School for providing me and the Nepalese children with such a unique experience.
